Kathmandu, May 30 (RSS): Visiting Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Shahidul Islam on Wednesday called on Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali at the Ministry.
During the meeting, Minister Gyawali reiterating Nepal’s commitments to BIMSTEC, said Nepal as a current chair would convene the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu at a convenient time, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry.
He also congratulated Islam on assuming the office of Secretary General. Appreciating the role of Secretariat in coordinating activities under the framework of BIMSTEC, he emphasized that the cooperation should deliver tangible results for the prosperity of the region.
Secretary General Islam apprised of the activities of BIMSTEC, and expressed willingness to extend all kind of cooperation to the member states especially to the Chair to holding the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu. Islam is on a three days introductory visit to Nepal.
