Trekking Guide training kicks off

Pokhara, May 26 (RSS): Western Regional Association of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAN) Pokhara has begun a month long training on trekking guide in a bid to make the trekking tourism more effective and well managed.
At a time when the number of both domestic and foreign trekkers was increasing, the training was needed for the professionalism, said Association Chairman Dipak Raj Adhikari, adding that a total of 347 persons from across the country receiving the training.
Inaugurating the training, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Bikas Lamsal, expressed the belief that the training would be useful to make trekking tourism effective by producing professional tour guide.
According to him, most of the tourists visiting Nepal venture on trekking in hilly region, so every village could be linked to road.
He further said after the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Muktinath, the number of trekkers has increased in the region.
