Bardibas, May 26 (RSS): Bardibas area in Mahottari district has been gradually developing into a hub of drug users.
According to the Area Police Office, Bardibas, drug smuggling and abuse is growing day by day in the town. During investigations, it has been revealed that cases of road accidents, theft, domestic violence and suicide have connections to drugs abuse.
The number of such sorts of incidents has already reached 100 in the town in the current fiscal. This figure was 53 in the last fiscal, Area Police Office, Bardibas Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabeen Pokhrel said.
“Cases relating to road accidents, theft, domestic violence and suicide apparently seem different to each other in nature, but when we go in depth, they are interconnected,” said Pokharel. The finding is that drug abuse is in the root of almost these consequences.
The latest investigation revealed that people from 15 -40 age group are mostly found in drugs abuse and its illegal trading in the city. Class 9-10 students are also found to be engaged in drugs addiction. Among drugs abuse and smuggling cases reported in this Tarai/Madhes district, 80 percent are related with Bardibas.
Meanwhile, the Area Police Office, Bardibas in cooperation with local ward reform committees and guardians has implemented the provision relating to the ban of sale of tobacco and tobacco products and alcohol around the school areas.
